Projects in Spain
Spain is deservedly acknowledged as one of the leading holiday destinations in Europe but it’s other attributes should not be ignored. Spain has a long and distinguished history which can be traced back to prehistoric times with the cave painting of Altamira in Cantabria.
The moors conquered most of the country in the 8th century AD and ruled for around 500 years and have left an indelible mark in place names and many fine buildings such as the Alhambra in Granada. The ancient cities of Spain which exhibit the Moorish influence include Cordoba, Toledo, Seville and Malaga and all merit a visit from the discerning and interested traveler.
Spain, like much of Europe, has suffered from the economic turmoil of recent years. The Mediterranean coast was over developed to feed the demand for holiday and retirement homes from Northern Europe. When the crash came, this overdevelopment left swathes of empty and unwanted real estate. The Spanish government has created a “bad bank” to relieve the mainstream banks of this toxic debt.
The result of this is that it is now possible for investors to acquire property at a fraction of its true cost. While the tourist industry has also suffered, it has not gone away so decent rental returns are possible. Golf apartments are now available at less than €100,000 in many places.
